Cruising the Beautiful Inside Passage

Alaska, Road Trip, States

Today was less hectic. It was a day at sea. We relaxed a bit. Some of us took a couples massage class. One of the things we learned as we took our turn at giving our spouse a massage, is that we are not so limber as we used to be! The scenery as we cruised south through the Inside Passage was beautiful. We were fascinated with some of the traffic…one looked like a floating house. The evening was a little busier, we all had to get packed and get our bags outside our door for tomorrow’s departure. We still found time to go to the show, go dancing at Michaels, and to slip outside and see darkness for the first time in two weeks!

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
