Arrival in Albuquerque

Family, New Mexico, States

Ryan and his friend Cameron met us at Albuquerque Sunport and whisked us away to the Flying Star, a fun cafe where at least one of us indulged in a Green Chile Cheeseburger – Yes! We are in New Mexico! Jana and her charge, Zoe, and Mary Lou met us there. After lunch we repaired to the Tingley Beach Boat Pond where Ryan gave us instruction and allowed us to sail his and Jana’s radio controlled boats. What fun! Then with Lou we headed for Santa Fe and 10,000 Waves. We soaked for a while in a hot tub and relaxed away all of our tensions before indulging in a wonderful meal at Osteria d’Assisi. What a wonderful way to begin our visit.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
