On Top of the World

Road Trip

It turned out to be a bright and beautiful Sunday. Much of the snow had melted. Elaine fed us a delicious breakfast and we lingered at the table as we visited with the other guests. Then we went for a hike accompanied by Cinnamon and Molly. They were perfect canine hostesses and tour guides. One led the group, the other brought up the rear. We said our good byes to Elaine and the dogs and enjoyed a leisurely drive back to El Dorado stopping for lunch at the No Pity Cafe in Madrid.

Imperial War Museum

Imperial War Museum

London’s Imperial War Museum in Southwark founded even as the First World War raged offers insights into the myriad costs of the wars of the 20th and 21st Centuries. It was a most disquieting but valuable reminder of the myriad costs of war.

This stay in London has given us new opportunities to explore and learn more about how canals contributed to the growth of this great city and how they are being used and preserved today.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.
