We were part of the team of election workers at Pinellas Precinct 147 for the Presidential Preference Primary. It was a nearly fifteen hour day. We were there for set up by 5:45AM. Polls opened at 7AM sharp. We stayed busy all day processing voters at for a nearly 40% turnout. Polls closed (Steve got to announce the opening and closing with a “Hear ye, hear ye” announcement!) at 7PM sharp then the after hours procedures began. We were finished about 8:30PM. The two of us came home and were ready to fall into bed when we heard the sound of fireworks. We watched from our balcony before falling into a very sound sleep.
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
