Last Day in Town

Family

We awakened to a beautiful view of downtown St Petersburg, got haircuts from Gina, and spent the day at the silver studio at The Arts Center where they threw a good bye party for us. We dined at Midtown with Annie and Scott then went to Wednesday night Swing Dance at the Savoy South Make Believe Ballroom at PASA for a wonderful 35th Anniversary and Happy Trails Party. Many many of our favorite dancers from the last ten years were there to bid us happy travels and to promise to visit us in North Carolina. One extra special surprise was Karen’s parents. Both ventured out onto the dance floor for a few minutes of dance. After a circle jam honoring us and a final song of Hit the Road, Jack we departed with CJ for Tampa and spent the night on our airbed in her apartment.

So happy I could be there for your last Wed. night swing dance… but hard to say goodbye. Looks like you’re having a wonderful time – bet the Vinoy was amazing to stay in!

Slow Journey Home

Slow Journey Home

Our journey from Portsmouth, England to our home in Ohio might have been accomplished in about sixteen hours but my avoiding air travel we were able to enjoy a fifteen day journey home via train, ship, Uber, train, as well as our own feet and finally our personal vehicle.

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

It’s been a fascinating two day visit to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. We managed to pack in tours of the HMS Warrior, the HMS Victory as well ast Victory Live: The
Big Repair, and finally the Mary Rose. All were incredibly informative and well presented.
