We broke camp in Winton Woods and headed for the Indiana border. Once we crossed the border we decided to get off the interstate. Our route took us through Columbus, Indiana, which is known for its excellence in mid-century modern architecture. At the Columbus Area Visitors Center we discovered some wonderful examples of Chihuly glass! At the border we stopped and asked for advice as to the best thing to see in Illinois then headed for our campsite at the Kamp Komfort in Carlock, Illinois. We got the same campsite as we camped at our first night out 35 years ago!
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
