On the way into Kings Canyon National Park we stopped at Grant’s Grove and visited the General Grant tree as well as many other giant sequoias. The General Grant is the third largest tree in the world but it is the largest in diameter at 40.5 feet! Then we drove into the canyon. Drove through a prescribed burn area. That’s the second park where we have seen deliberate burns. The canyon is absolutely incredible with it’s high granite walls. It’s a V-shaped canyon carved by the King River flowing through it’s base. We drove to Road’s End before turning around and driving back out and heading for Fresno for the night.
