Today we visited Yosemite. It had been one of the highlights of our Honeymoon. Just as we had done 35 years ago, we rode the tram tour of the Mariposa Grove of sequoias. Among our favorites in the grove is The Faithful Couple, two trees of about the same age that have fused together and function as a single tree. We also visited the Wawona Pioneer Center then drove into the Yosemite Village in the late afternoon. Drove through yet another prescribed burn area. Apparently October is the season for prescribed burning. After marveling at the beauty of the afternoon sun on the high granite walls of the mountains, we drove out to Midpines to stay in a Kamping Kabin at the KOA.
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
amazing photos… I love that top one of the sheared-off mountain top!
