Pleasure Ridge Park

Family

We took a trip down Memory Lane this morning. We visited Pleasure Ridge Park, Kentucky, the Louisville suburb where Karen lived for six years before she moved to Florida with her family just after her ninth birthday. We went to Mass at St Paul’s and walked around her old school, drove past the old homestead, and ate lunch at the McDonald’s on Dixie Highway. Back in those days, before the Golden Arches, their sign claimed “More Than 400,000 Sold” and it was just a walk up hamburger stand. From there we drove to Cincinnati, spent the evening with Karen’s Aunt Mary and dined on Swiss Miss hamburgers at Frisch’s Big Boy, a Cincinnati tradition.

We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
