Hugging Phil & CJ

Family

Our Christmas celebration is winding down. After a yummy breakfast of Apple Buckwheat Pancakes accompanied by Sausage & Onions, CJ and Phil took their leave today to head for Tennessee to visit some of his family. Because of the I-40 rockslide they planned a route north on US 441 through GSMNP – a very pretty but longer trip. Greg expressed an interest in staying close to the hearth so we spent the rest of the day relaxing and eating good food punctuated with short hikes up the mountain and down the mountain.

Imperial War Museum

Imperial War Museum

London’s Imperial War Museum in Southwark founded even as the First World War raged offers insights into the myriad costs of the wars of the 20th and 21st Centuries. It was a most disquieting but valuable reminder of the myriad costs of war.

This stay in London has given us new opportunities to explore and learn more about how canals contributed to the growth of this great city and how they are being used and preserved today.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.
