Public Gardens and Beyond

Massachusetts, Road Trip, States

Still didn’t make the trip to the National Archives at Waltham, Mass. Still working out details of how to transport ourselves there. Instead we achieved a different goal for this trip. We went to the Apple Store on Boylston an purchased a Magic Track Pad to use with the Lion OS on our iMac. Also spent some delightful time in Boston Commons and the Public Gardens. Didn’t ride the Swan Boats but had fun watching them. Dined at Joe’s American Bar and Grill on Newbury Street at Exeter. Discovered their best kept secret on the menu. Incredible Crab Cakes. Explored Lambert’s on Tremont Street and came home with Spinach and Cheese Ravioli for tonight’s dinner.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
