Friends Donna and Jerry picked us up and together we rode into town with the top of their convertible down and our hair blowing in the wind on a glorious 77 degree afternoon to meet friends of theirs who are in the process of designing their dream home in the mountains. We enjoyed a delightful repast at Soul Infusion and discussed all manner of things relating to construction of a mountain home in the twenty-first century – passive solar design, radiant floor heat, on-demand hot water, summer kitchen, whole house exhaust fan, insulation, wood fired heat vs propane vs electric, on-grid vs off-grid, blah, blah, blah. It was a delightful afternoon. Then back in the cove we went back to D&J’s to sit on the deck at sunset to finish off the day as we finished off a bottle of wine. Pleasant day!
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
