Turkeys, Quilts, & Good Eats

Family

We started the day with a visit from some wild turkeys, a rafter of four hens came for breakfast. We first spotted them outside our bedroom window. They stayed for quite a while gradually moving down the hill. Soon after that our friend Mary arrived with this week’s farm boxes that our two families split. Then the three of us headed off to Asheville on a day of adventures which included a trip to a fine fabrics store, lunch in Biltmore Village, the Asheville Quilt Guild show, a shopping trip to Earth Fare for some great groceries, and dessert at a TCBY frozen yogurt bar. Some fine adventures on a crispy cool autumn day topped off by dinner of Chicken Pot Pie from Earth Fare and tomatoes from our garden.

We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
