Three years ago today we left Ohio on the last leg of our Great Adventure and drove through a snow storm through West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, and into North Carolina. We stopped at the North Carolina welcome station where snow was piled atop the sign and there we made motel reservations for Sylva. That was the beginning of our residence here in Jackson County. This morning dawned frosty but snow free. We celebrated this evening with a delightful dinner downtown at Lulu’s which included some local Gaelic Ale and an impromptu  visit with a friend and neighbor.
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
