Excursion to Black Mountain

Family

Six of us headed off to the town of Black Mountain, east of Asheville today on adventure. Upon arrival we headed immediately to a delightful lunch at The Verandah, then with happily full tummies three of us went shopping at the yarn store and three went browsing at the hardware store. After all that hard work of shopping we had to fortify ourselves with some ice cream before heading west again. Did stop for a little more shopping and rocking chair testing. Came home with materials for more knitting projects, materials for jewelry photography, and a new smaller version of the griddler, one of our favorite kitchen tools. It was a fun day. Finished it off with a couple of hours of the digging the garden project, a vicarious genealogy adventure, and a glass of wine.

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
