We Scored!

Road Trip

We rolled into Pinellas County late yesterday afternoon thinking we’d look for a campsite for our little trailer at one of the rv/trailer parks in northeast St Petersburg but then had another thought. We checked the reservations website for Fort DeSoto campground and scored a waterfront site in the tent circle! (Hooray for mobile computing!) It felt like homecoming. Almost certainly we’ve camped at this site before. We set up the tent, got our gear organized, watched a beautiful sunset and spent a couple of salubrious hours sitting out in the evening air enjoying our novels. This morning we had coffee while sitting at the waterline watching the shorebirds and breakfasted under the watchful eye of a squirrel accustomed to being fed by campers. Today we plan to share meals with friends then head back to the camp to prepare our camp for a thunderstorm that’s expected to come through in the wee small hours

We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
