We had reserved today to enjoy all on our own while enjoying the strains of a song that Paul McCartney wrote when he was fifteen. We started off with a breakfast at Beverly’s on Corey Avenue. If you are near St Pete Beach, you must check out this most delicious, always crowded, independent restaurant. We then returned to Ft DeSoto to break camp and headed into town. We dropped the trailer at a friend’s. On a whim we toured the neighborhood we lived in more than thirty years ago and had a delightful visit with Kathy, a former neighbor. At two we had an appointment for haircuts with Gina and enjoyed catching up with her. Then we headed north on 9th and allowed the allure of Dunkin’ Donuts Boston Creme to tempt us then lingered in order to take advantage of the free Wi-Fi. While we were lingering a friend who never stops there for coffee did stop and we spent the better part of an hour catching up with one another. We finished the day with wine and the company of Susan who has offered shelter for two nights.
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
