Clamshell Dreams

Road Trip

On our way home we stopped to dream. The weather was cold and gray and rainy but the outlook was bright. We fell in love the the T@B Clamshell camper. As much as we have loved traveling with the Silver Shadow there are times that we yearn for just a little more room inside the cabin and for a more complete kitchen. We started the search for the next camper last summer. We’ve looked at several different options and keep coming back to the T@B. Actually we didn’t bite back in August because we learned that Little Guy International expected to introduce the Clamshell model in the Fall. We confirmed that when we visited them at their headquarters in Massillon OH back in September. But then when it was actually introduced we looked at the specs and became disenchanted. In order to put the outdoor kitchen in the rear they had had to rotate the bunk and shorten it to 70 inches. We each had different objections to it. But when we stopped at Young’s RV in Kings Mountain NC and saw one in real life we fell in love. The downsides are very minimal especially when contrasted to the joys of the well appointed outdoor kitchen not to mention the minimal weight of the trailer and the incredible fit and finish of the Amish craftsmanship. Now we’re dreaming of the next journey in a T@B-C.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
