Our southernmost port of call. We docked at Philipsburg, Sint Maarten. Twelve of us hired a driver for the day and piled into his fifteen passenger van. We headed for the French side. Our first stop was Orient Beach for half an hour. Some shopped, some wandered north on the beach, some wandered down the southern part of the beach but we all convened back at the van and then we were fourteen. Jeff and Jean had found us and joined the party. Then on to Grand Case and a leisurely lunch on a verandah overlooking the water. During our stop in Marigot, the French capital, we two found our favorite Jamaican rum for sale. We stopped by airport beach and saw a big jet take off then headed back to the ship. Had to slake our thirst so we stopped by Crooners lounge for a large mudslide and a lemon-tini. Yum! And of course a fabulous dinner and more dancing!
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
