Pre-Birthday Dance

Family

We’ve been in Pinellas a little more than a week now. We’re visiting Gary usually twice a day, running errands for him, and working on a project for him at his house. We’re immersed in helping him out. But we are taking time out both last Saturday night and tonight to go dancing at the Largo Community Center. There are still a few dancers from the old gang that show up there on a regular or at least semi-regular basis.  It’s good to hang out with dancing friends.  Tonight was the circle dance for June birthdays but there were no dancers with a June birthday. So Bev pointed out to Arleene that Karen’s birthday was in July and with was likely that she wouldn’t be there so Arleene announced that it would be Karen’s circle dance!

Imperial War Museum

Imperial War Museum

London’s Imperial War Museum in Southwark founded even as the First World War raged offers insights into the myriad costs of the wars of the 20th and 21st Centuries. It was a most disquieting but valuable reminder of the myriad costs of war.

London’s Canals

London’s Canals

The two of us have long been fascinated with the history of canals and their role in the history of transportation, industrialization, and more recently recreation. This stay in London has given us new opportunities to explore and learn more about how canals contributed to the growth of this great city and how they are being used and preserved today.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.
