Sugarcreek Bound

Road Trip

Up and out of camp early. Had a lot of the prep for departure done last night. On the road by seven thirty. Onto the interstate and then onto the Pennsylvania turnpike. Through Pittsburg, the upper part of Virginia’s panhandle, and into Ohio. Phone calls and emails as we travel. We arrived at the Pleasant Valley Trailer factory in Sugarcreek, Ohio at two-thirty. Chris Baum had instructed us to ask for Steve or Marvin. Marvin met us, joined shortly by Ed Kauffman. We explained our refrigerator woes to them. The 12V appliance would only work when we were plugged into 110. It would not keep it’s cool while we were off grid or while we were hooked up and traveling. So we went out and opened it up and discovered it had been running! Oh, the embarrassment! They suspected something in the installation process and agreed to change it out. And while we were there fix a few more things that were not quite right with the trailer including a problem with the propane shield that we didn’t even know that we had. Yes! Less than two hours later we were on our way! We do really like the people at Little Guy and Pleasant Valley!!

Imperial War Museum

Imperial War Museum

London’s Imperial War Museum in Southwark founded even as the First World War raged offers insights into the myriad costs of the wars of the 20th and 21st Centuries. It was a most disquieting but valuable reminder of the myriad costs of war.

London’s Canals

London’s Canals

The two of us have long been fascinated with the history of canals and their role in the history of transportation, industrialization, and more recently recreation. This stay in London has given us new opportunities to explore and learn more about how canals contributed to the growth of this great city and how they are being used and preserved today.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.
