Bookcases & Empty Boxes

Family

IMG_6570We raised a bibliophile. And he’s passing the trait on to the next generation. Books abound in this household. In the apartment David had a hall closet that housed a good portion of his books and a couple of bookcases in the living room. In this house there is no book closet option. And the girls are growing their own collections. As we have been emptying boxes and filling up bookcases it has become evident that more bookcases are needed. Time for a trip to the store and bookshelf assembly in the middle of the living room. Amy is traveling to Virginia for a high school reunion this weekend. The girls are with their mother. Grab a dinner at the local bar and grill then shuffle Dave off to a quiet space to do some studying. A little more unpacking then time for us to head back to the T@B for a much needed rest.

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.

Bletchley Park

Bletchley Park

It was at Bletchley Park that the Allied Codebreakers deciphered German military messages during the Second World War. A free guided tour gave us a good overview of the campus and the activities that occurred here from 1938 to 1945.

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

A lovely way to spend a Sunday in Hampstead. We visited the historic Fenton House to view lots of lovely collectibles, to listen to and learn about harpsicords, and to tour and linger in the garden before heading off to the historic Spaniard’s Inn for a most delectable Sunday Roast.
