Our hosts, John & Karen had early morning responsibilities at their church in New Sweden where the annual tag sale is this weekend so we were up early to see the morning mists over the lake and to visit with them a little more. Once they were off and we’d gotten ourselves organized and out of the house, we stopped by the tag sale on our way out of town where we met more of their friends, snagged a few treasures, gave several more tours of our little T@B, and got some last hugs before heading south. So far this trip we have gone almost exclusively north and east. To the limits. We were at the Canadian border in the north. Then on our way south we accidentally crossed the border to the east. As we crossed we realized and immediately did a U-turn and presented our passports to the US Customs agents who also admired the camper. We needed to make a plan for the next part of the trip. A phone call to Gary indicated he’d like us to come back to Florida relatively soon. Text messages to Greg and Rachel indicated we’d be welcome to come to Dorchester for a weekend visit. We scrapped plans to cruise along the Maine coast and deadheaded for Freeport, for lobster and a late night visit to LL Bean. At Bean we found find many nice items that make like in the camper even better. Even better than that, we got to see the The Final Charge display of two bull moose with locked horns. The horns themselves were found by a friend of John & Karen’s on her property in New Sweden in 2006. as well as .
Imperial War Museum
London’s Imperial War Museum in Southwark founded even as the First World War raged offers insights into the myriad costs of the wars of the 20th and 21st Centuries. It was a most disquieting but valuable reminder of the myriad costs of war.
