Waterfalls

Family

IMG_6622One of the joys of life in the mountains is being able to play tourist when folks come to visit. Originally Phil and Jill had agreed to come house sit for us and to check to make sure all is well with our house. Then things changed. Thinking that Gary may want us nearby in Pinellas as he goes through radiation and then chemo, we headed home for at least a little stay. Gary started treatment on Wednesday and at least for now wants us to stay put in NC. So we’re here for now and that gave us an opportunity for a visit with our cousins. And it’s good that they didn’t have to deal with having to call our the well repair people on a weekend. It’s been good being able to go shopping for some of our favorite local foods and sharing them. We’ve dined on mountain trout, local bratwurst, locally grown vegetables, goat cheese, and more. Today after Mass we got chocolates in Dillsboro before heading to Whitewater Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Dry Falls, and Cullasaja Falls with a stop at the Carolina Smokehouse along the way. Oh yes, and we’ve enjoyed wines from our travels and theirs as well as some Heinzelmannchen brew.IMG_6631

Wicked The Musical

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens
