Road Trip

It’s been four good years and 99,000 miles, traveling here, there, and everywhere in our 2005 Trailblazer dubbed “Sterling Silver” but the time has come to move on. We assessed the costs of the repairs that we would need to do in the immediate and near future compared to the current vehicle value then began to look at what options were out there that would meet our needs and wants. We wanted a tow vehicle that could handle the T@B without difficulty even on steep mountain roads. We need 4WD and passenger seating in the rear. We began the shopping process to get a feel for the market and soon we found the one! It’s a 2008 Ford F-150 Lariat with a 5.4L Triton engine. This cream puff comes with a story better than the little ol’ lady who only drove it to church on Sunday. This one was owned by a couple who drove it only to haul the trash and fetch the groceries once every two weeks. The rest of the time they tooled around town in their red Mustang! After his death his widow traded both vehicles in for a car that she would feel comfortable driving. She traded it in yesterday! This baby had not even hit the car lot. It was at the detailers when we started talking with Dustin at Andy Shaw Ford. So this afternoon we snagged a beautiful red pickup truck with only 10080 miles on the odometer! Look out world, here we come!

Yes, the truck has a name. Eric the Red. We expect to travel with Eric on many explorations not to mention the Scandinavian connection!

Winter Magic in Medina

Winter Magic in Medina

By deliberate choice we were in Medina for all the winter holiday festivities from Candlelight Walk in the days before Thanksgiving through A Christmas Carol and A Celtic Christmas as well as an Alex Bevan Concert and a historic house tour all the way through Medina’s 31st Ice Festival but perhaps the highlight was the town hosting hundreds of folks whose homes and lives were devasted by Hurricane Helene at the A Promise of Christmas Event the middle of January. It’s an honor to be a part of this amazing community!

Savoy at Sea 2025

The warmth we anticipated when we headed to the Caribbean in mid-January didn’t really materialize but the fun we had with our dancing friends and the great crew of the Margaritaville at Sea Islander more than made up for the not so favorable weather.
