Ever since we got our new wheels we’ve been itching for a road trip. And for quite a while we’ve been anxious to visit Uncle Neil & Aunt Vi. We checked the weather forecast on Sunday and realized that we were looking at a few days of nice weather so we called to find out if Neil & Vi might be available for lunch in the next couple of days. Yes! Tuesday would work nicely. So Monday morning we filled up the gas tank and headed out. West on I-40 and north on I-75. Used a mobile app to make a hotel reservation with rewards points while enroute. On arrival we discovered we had a two room suite! Sweet! Cousin Lynne had the flexibility to meet up with us for dinner at Frisch’s (where we resupplied on Tartar Sauce) then hang out talking this and that and showing her some of the stuff on the family genealogy site. Tuesday morning we did a little shopping, so many more retail opportunities in the big city, then snagged some favorite dishes from Bob Evans and headed over to Neil & Vi’s place at The Barrington. We got to show Neil the “new” Ford F-150. He’s always been a “Ford Man” and has for years teased Steve about his preference for Chevys. He liked it! After our visit with them we stopped briefly in Hyde Park for a Graeter’s fix, Black Raspberry Chip with Bittersweet topping. (It was all the sweeter since Graeter’s is again a rare treat now that our WNC source has dried up.) Then we headed south. So the review on travel with our truck, Eric the Red, is that it’s a comfortable ride and the gas mileage is marginally better than what we got with the Trailblazer. Nice!
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
Much luck with your new wheels!
