It started out reasonably “warm” today. We ventured into Sylva for blood work then to a delightful breakfast at Mainstreet Bakery. It tasted so good after the fast. As we headed to the recreation park we saw sunny skies with storm clouds in the distance. It was a bit of a tossup as to whether to walk the trails or go inside and use the treadmill. We opted for indoor. Forty-five minutes on the treadmill then stretches and showers. As we were leaving the gym we were overhearing reports of snow flurries in the area. As we headed home for lunch we began to see a few flurries ourselves. Then out again for an afternoon appointment. Skies looking darker. On the way back we stopped at Ingles Market with two grocery lists, one for ourselves and one to fill a bag for the food bank. As is typical before a snow, the market was busy with folks stocking up: the proverbial milk and bread because snow’s coming. By the time we pulled into our driveway about 4PM little snowballs were falling rapidly out of the sky. Then it calmed for a little then restarted with big big flakes that melted as they hit the ground. Twenty minutes later it was beginning to stick. It accumulated quickly. It hasn’t gotten too deep, probably not enough for sledding, And the forecast is we won’t get any more, but it’s a pretty view out the windows.
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
