Steve’s Number One!

Family

We had a delightful and unexpected surprise today. When we went to the gym, the receptionist asked Steve if he had his Silver Sneakers card with him. They had just learned this morning that they could begin accepting Silver Sneakers effective immediately. And Steve got to be the first! This is a bit of a triumph for the Jackson County Recreation Center and for us. Working with Rusty Ellis, the director, we helped create the ground swell of interest and series of telephone calls that convinced Healthways to consider the two applications that JCRC had submitted and to approve it as a Silver Sneakers location. For those of you not in the know Silver Sneakers is a program offered through some Medicare supplement programs and serves as a gym membership at approved locations. It’s one of the perks of being an “old fart”. To all of our friends who made phone calls, thank you so very much, your effort paid off!

In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
