Leaving Ohio

Road Trip

We’ve been visiting family in Ohio since April 14th. We’ve visited Marietta, Canton, Toledo, Dayton, Milford, and Cincinnati. We’ve had a glorious time with our granddaughters, our son and his girlfriend, aunts, an uncle, first and second cousins and various cousins once removed. We’ve swapped family stories and camping tales, hiked, enjoyed museums, parks, fabulous home cooking, fine dining, favorite restaurants and Graeter’s Ice Cream. It was snowing our first morning here. It’s warm and sunny now and has been crazy Springtime weather in between. It’s been a great three weeks. Now we’re headed to Tween Creeks to swap the comforts of our gypsy wagon for the comforts of our mountain house.

Imperial War Museum

Imperial War Museum

London’s Imperial War Museum in Southwark founded even as the First World War raged offers insights into the myriad costs of the wars of the 20th and 21st Centuries. It was a most disquieting but valuable reminder of the myriad costs of war.

London’s Canals

London’s Canals

The two of us have long been fascinated with the history of canals and their role in the history of transportation, industrialization, and more recently recreation. This stay in London has given us new opportunities to explore and learn more about how canals contributed to the growth of this great city and how they are being used and preserved today.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.
