Felix’s Fish Camp Reprise

2014 West then East, Alabama, Road Trip, States

In early July 2004 we and CJ were road tripping from St Petersburg to Arlington for a family reunion. We overnighted in theMobile area and had a wonderfully memorable sunset dinner at Felix’s Fish Camp where we scored a table looking out over a spectacular sunset over Mobile Bay. We returned today for a Gulf Coast lunch. Shrimp for Steve and Fried Oysters for Karen, both over a salad that included hearts of palm and of artichoke. We finished with White and Dark Chocolate Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce and excellent coffee. We promised our server we won’t wait ten years ’til our next visit!

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
