The Oregon Scenic Byway

2014 West then East, Oregon, Road Trip

Spent the day traveling east on US Highway 20. This sounds suspiciously like a blog entry from last summer when we traveled 20 through the wine country of New York’s Finger Lakes. But today we traveled through the Willamette Valley, the Cascade Mountains, and sagebrush desert. We ended the day at a little resort/campground at a geothermal hot springs out in the middle of nowhere. A soak in the waters and a big sky sunset is a good way to say good night! Might be some beautiful stars out there but there’s also ferocious mosquitos so we’re grateful for our little tin can shelter!

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
