Forty-one years ago when we were tent camping across the country on our honeymoon The Carpenters’ hit On Top of the World was high on the charts and being played frequently on FM stations across the country. It was a bit of an anthem for us. Today as we were traveling through mountain passes at altitudes of greater than ten thousand feet along the Flat Tops Trail Scenic Byway, we were on an emotional high! We dug out the silver iPod, found that song, and enjoyed a flashback to ’73!
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
