Because it’s listed in National Geographic Guide to State Parks in the United States, we decided to visit Lake Guernsey State Park near Guernsey, Wyoming. At registration we were advised that the water levels in the lake, which is a reservoir, were at very low levels due to an annual drawdown but that we were welcome to camp here if we really wanted to. Apparently most people don’t since we have only a couple of neighbors. It was a spectacular sunset over the remnants of Lake Guernsey after a fun afternoon of history lessons, geocaching, a meal at Twisters in town (thanks to Yelp) including homemade cherry pie, and a reviving nap in the air-conditioned T@B. We struck up a conversation with one of our few neighbors in the campground and spent a pleasant our drinking peach iced tea and swapping travel tales. Wanzie & Laquiti also enjoy freeform travel. We finished the evening enjoying the spectacular night sky here so far from light pollution. We saw a shooting star! It’d be an incredible place from which to watch a meteor shower!

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
