One of the cool opportunities in Madison is the Olbrich Botanical Gardens. We’re here during their annual butterfly event and we have our own personal tour guide. Nancy is on the staff and walked us through the conservatory and gardens as well as a behind the scenes tour introducing us to staff, volunteers, and even a fellow dancer along the way. She was able to tell us wonderful stories about the background of the gardens, the butterflies, the Chilhuly inspired glass sculpture, the incredible kaleidoscope, the Thai sala and more. It was a wonderful way to experience one of Madison’s treasures!

London’s Canals

London’s Canals

The two of us have long been fascinated with the history of canals and their role in the history of transportation, industrialization, and more recently recreation. This stay in London has given us new opportunities to explore and learn more about how canals contributed to the growth of this great city and how they are being used and preserved today.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.
