Croquet After Dark

Family

IMG_2589.JPG
The history of the game of croquet may go back hundreds of years in Europe but it definitely goes back more than fifty years in the history of or family. Mom gave Dad a croquet set that she got with trading stamps for Father’s Day sometime in the late 1950’s and we began learning to play the game in the backyard. In every home they have lived in Dad has endeavored to establish a level grassy croquet court. In anticipation of this gathering he made sure the court was ready for play. So after dinner we gathered in the backyard and played a friendly game. One difference tonight compared to games played years ago is that we illuminated the last several plays with or cell phone flashlights. Why didn’t we think of that back on the sixties?
