We are in Delaware! Camped at Lums Pond State Park near Bear, DE. We pulled into this lovely park late this afternoon in time to do a little hiking. Lums Pond is the largest freshwater lake in the state, created in the early 1800’s by damming St. Georges Creek to power a sawmill and to fill the locks of the nearby Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. For dinner we heated up leftovers for crab omelet sandwiches and discovered that cocktail sauce is great with crab omelet! Then around sunset we headed out for another short hike. We found two nearby caches by flashlight! This first day of Autumn is the best day we’ve had on or Fitbits in a while, we’ve walked nearly seven miles today!
Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Over a long weekend we sampled some of the myriad things to do in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, unique among national parks for it’s environmental reclamation, historic preservation, and recreational opportunities adjacent to the populous cities of Cleveland and Akron in northeastern Ohio. Can’t wait to return and explore more.
