Freezing at Bear Creek

Late yesterday afternoon we had the privilege of taking delivery of a beautiful new 2015 Custom T@B-CS camping trailer at the Pleasant Valley factory in Sugarcreek OH. After an opportunity to hobnob with Joe Mullet and several members of his team, we spent time with Ed and Marvin learning several of the new features of this beautiful piece of Amish craftsmanship. By the time we were pulling out of the drive it was dark and cold. We opted to stay one night at nearby Bear Creek KOA. Knowing that we had two heat sources in the camper, we left the space heater in the bed of the pick-up. Bad move. We learned two things. One is that were still need to learn how to use the ALDE radiant heating system. The other is that it is indeed true that a heat pump does not work at temperatures below freezing. It did work long enough to warm the cabin and to let us fall asleep but we awakened in the middle of the night to realize we had no heat -not good on a night with a low of 19 degrees! The good news is that the trailer is already winterized and we had plenty of blankets.

Wicked The Musical

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
