The Truck’s in the Barn!
29 December
Karen’s brothers and sister-in-law have been working diligently since Labor Day helping our parents get ready to downsize to an independent living apartment in a retirement community. They made the move the week of Thanksgiving. Now the task is to get the property ready for the market. Yesterday and today we two were able to be on site to help do some final sorting and organizing, to wash curtains, to meet with the realtor, and such. Ed was with us yesterday, Michael and Matthew met us there today. It seems like great progress to reach the point where we can park the truck in the space that was ounce occupied by the classic Jaguar and it’s various parts! Tomorrow we will be back for one more day. Hopefully we’ll be able to get more progress made then!

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
