A Bit of Comfort Needed

Family

It’s been one of those mornings. It should have been easy enough to run just a few simple errands. We went to the post office to pick up a package that tracking said would be there but it’s not. Then at the pharmacy, a three dollar coupon wouldn’t scan. The ATM gave us a tiny fraction of the amount we entered. And our SiriusXM on the truck radio quit working. Only one solution: drive through the local Dunkin’ Donuts for coffee and Boston Creme doughnuts. Tiuns out the PO will hold the package until we get back, we got the discount at the pharmacy, the ATM ultimately gave us the correct amount and charged our account appropriately, and a call to SiriusXM helped us get our music back. And the doughnuts and coffee were yummy.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
