We’ve scored a national park campsite with shade and electricity near a well-appointed shower house at the Senior Pass rate! It’s the Wilderness Road Campground near Ewing, Virginia. It’s at Cumberland Gap National Historic Park where the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia meet.  Our site is B-15 and it looks like it will be shaded in the morning as well as the afternoon. We’re here at least one night, maybe two. Next is lunch and a nap before we head out for adventures. We might visit the Lincoln  Museum or The Cumberland Gap Visitors Center or take a hike! In any case we’re beginning to enjoy a slower pace!

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
