Forty-two

Family

If 42 is the answer, then what is the question? In this case, it’s not what Douglas Adams fans might expect. It’s “How many years have Steve & Karen been married?”  Forty-two years ago tonight we stood on the altar at Nativity Church here in Cincinnati and made a covenant with one another in the presence of Fr Joseph Allison, our families, and a few of our friends. Yesterday we went to Mass at Nativity. This afternoon we got a treat at Busken Bakery, the source of our wedding cake (look in the background on the right side of the photo). And this evening we had a most delicious home style meal at The Century Inn, established 1806, complete with some incredible craft beers and finished with a fine blackberry cobbler. There’s even enough meatloaf leftovers for a couple of sandwiches tomorrow. And as a nod to Douglas Adams, we’re watching “A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” tonight!

Wicked The Musical

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
