We had the privilege today of visiting the home of the 8th President of the United States!  Lindenwald, the home and farm estate of Martin Van Buren in the years following his presidency is located in his hometown of Kinderhook, NY. The front porch us undergoing restoration so we entered through the servants’ entry. The guide for our group of six was extremely knowledgeable and since the group was small we felt free to ask questions. We learned so much about this man who was one of the founders of the Democratic Party and helped shape our nation in its early years. He was revered in his time for his great common sense.
