Muskallonge Lake State Park

2015 New England and MidWest, Michigan, Road Trip

Incredible Blue Skies! What gorgeous weather! We have spent the whole day here at Muskallonge Lake State Park. In fact we didn’t even unhitch the T@B when we arrived yesterday. We’ve been enjoying deliciously warm temperatures, crisp winds, and clear sapphire skies. This morning we did housekeeping by taking everything out of the lower kitchen cabinets, purging a few items, and putting it all back a little more organized. Then we repeated that process in the storage compartment we call “the basement” where we keep leveling blocks, chocks, stakes, and such things that are needed of getting the T@B situated on a new site. Later in the afternoon we strolled the Superior shore again. This time we headed west. There’s less shoreline in that direction and we had to make our way around some fallen trees to continue along the shore. Gave us an opportunity to ponder the forces of nature on this mighty lake. First of all the lake level is higher since our first visit three years ago thanks to a couple of harsh winters. When the lake freezes the ice cover prevents evaporation. Second we saw significant erosion of the bank indicating a furious  storm in the recent past. We would have loved to have been in the company of a geobiologist who could have helped us understand the layers of sand and peat that we could see there. A glorious day!

We added only one more specimen to the collection of PLRs (pretty little rocks) that grace our picnic table.

And we enjoyed the tail end of daylight with a successful geocache search and sunset over Muskallonge Lake.

Winter Magic in Medina

Winter Magic in Medina

By deliberate choice we were in Medina for all the winter holiday festivities from Candlelight Walk in the days before Thanksgiving through A Christmas Carol and A Celtic Christmas as well as an Alex Bevan Concert and a historic house tour all the way through Medina’s 31st Ice Festival but perhaps the highlight was the town hosting hundreds of folks whose homes and lives were devasted by Hurricane Helene at the A Promise of Christmas Event the middle of January. It’s an honor to be a part of this amazing community!

Savoy at Sea 2025

The warmth we anticipated when we headed to the Caribbean in mid-January didn’t really materialize but the fun we had with our dancing friends and the great crew of the Margaritaville at Sea Islander more than made up for the not so favorable weather.
