We are traveling CR-407 from Muskallonge to Grand Marais. Shall we say it’s not a smooth road? We’re doing  more shaking and rattling than rolling at our 15 mpg pace.  We drove this route in September 2012 but our recollections of that experience focus on a search for a gas station. This time we made a point of topping off the tank in Newberry so we are in good shape fuel wise. Now the questions of the day are: Have we secured everything in the trailer well enough to survive this shaking business? And can we find those  geocaches we saved to an offline list? Life’s an adventure!

Gotta love those back roads! Beautiful area, we will need to explore the upper Michigan peninsula next year.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
