This has been a glorious day! We were up before dawn for a quick breakfast and a drive up US-41 to Fort Wilkins State Park to participate in their 9th Annual Geocaching Event. We had to learn a new technique in order to find the nine temporary caches inside the park. Although our phone had no cell signal, they still got GPS signal. So we used the compass in the geocaching app and navigated using coordinates! Doing it as a team made it a lot easier! Our favorite of the temporary finds were The Hosegow, hidden in a cell in the fort’s jail, and especially The Fishing Pier, a stainless steel tube hidden underwater! We also found a permanent cache hidden ingeniously within the cannon that graces the entrance to the park!

We took the shore road back pausing to take a photo of the northern terminus on US-41.

We were at the southern terminus in February  2013 when we drove US-1 through Miami.

We made more stops along the shore road to admire the incredible beauty of the coast.

And a stop for some amazing Muffins at the monastery run Jampot Bakery. We wound up the evening gathered around our campfire in a can with our neighbor Marcie.

Wicked The Musical

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
