It’s Labor Day Weekend and a busy campground time all around the country but perhaps especially so in Michigan where according to state law the school year cannot commence until after the first Monday in September. Reservations for state parks apparently filled up six months ago! This last weekend of summer is a big deal!  We were fortunate to snag a three night reservation at the Oscoda KOA! We spent part of today poking around the area geocaching, grocery shopping, and enjoying the lakeshore. We earned our Geocaching Michigan badge, the Michigan Mittens!

And we enjoyed the sight of the last Vintage Fire Truck Ride of the season at this KOA, complete with sirens wailing, dogs barking, and kids waving!

Burgh House Hampstead

Burgh House Hampstead

Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week.
