What an adventure! We chose this morning to decamp and move on, thinking we could find a site at Winton Woods for twelve nights. It’s October and it seems the camping season is winding down. Not! In what seems to be a growing trend, Winton is hosting Halloween Nights every weekend in October. So we tried Stone Lick State Park, Miami Whitewater Forest, Big Bone Lick State Park, and a couple others. No one could accommodate us for twelve nights straight. We ended up on Site 42 at Rose Garden Resort near Crittenden KY for four nights then we’ll move to Miami Whitewater for the next eight nights. We definitely gave our campground and mapping apps a workout today. We could not have accomplished this on the run in the days before smartphones!

Imperial War Museum

Imperial War Museum

London’s Imperial War Museum in Southwark founded even as the First World War raged offers insights into the myriad costs of the wars of the 20th and 21st Centuries. It was a most disquieting but valuable reminder of the myriad costs of war.

London’s Canals

London’s Canals

The two of us have long been fascinated with the history of canals and their role in the history of transportation, industrialization, and more recently recreation. This stay in London has given us new opportunities to explore and learn more about how canals contributed to the growth of this great city and how they are being used and preserved today.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.
