Holding Her Hand

Family

The family is gathered in Fort Worth at Karen’s Mother’s bedside. Dad and all six siblings are taking turns holding her hand and talking with her. It’s a beautiful way to deal with a difficult time. She raised us with an incredible set of values and together we are doing our best to ease her transition with excellent support from hospice. It was an emotional moment when we all sang the family’s favorite lullaby to her this afternoon. When asked to quickly think of a favorite memory, the one that popped into my, Karen’s, head was of a time when I was two years old walking hand in hand with Mother through a garden gate.
