And a Gorgeous Sunset

Florida, Road Trip, States

Today didn’t start out so pretty. Our phones awakened us at 4:21AM with a tornado warning. It didn’t take us long to decide to take shelter.  We joined another couple and their dog in the ladies room until the storm abated. Later this morning we called NC DMV about the trailer license tag we lost on our trip across the state. Turns out the easiest way to deal with it is to renew online then to sit tight here for the ten days it may take to get the new tag in the mail. Fortunately the campground has an emergency site we can rent for the duration. Drat! We’re stuck in this lovely place!  While we were dealing with that, Steve’s phone decided to go into reset mode and we had to take it to the local Verizon emporium. Fortunately we were able to reset and didn’t lose any data. From there the day just got better. We had a wonderful walk on the beach, got some yummy groceries at the nearby Public, enjoyed a gorgeous sunset from a fishing pier out in the river, and got to hear Linus giggle over the phone! Life is good!

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
