Scrubbed Again

Florida, Road Trip, States

For the second night in a row the SpaceX launch has been scrubbed. Yesterday it was to allow the liquid oxygen a longer time to chill, today we don’t know the reason. According to the webcast to which we were listening, the launch may be rescheduled in a few days. A moan of disappointment was uttered by those gathered at waters edge particularly those who will no longer be here in a few days. We are not among them. We got news today from NC DMV that our license plate would go out in today’s mail so we can expect it to arrive here in a mere seven to ten days. Apparently we experienced an unprecedented glitch in the system which explains why the plate wasn’t issued eight days ago as originally expected. We’re just glad to be stuck in a spot where we can extend our stay and enjoy the area and maybe even see the Falcon 9 launch in a few days!

Imperial War Museum

Imperial War Museum

London’s Imperial War Museum in Southwark founded even as the First World War raged offers insights into the myriad costs of the wars of the 20th and 21st Centuries. It was a most disquieting but valuable reminder of the myriad costs of war.

London’s Canals

London’s Canals

The two of us have long been fascinated with the history of canals and their role in the history of transportation, industrialization, and more recently recreation. This stay in London has given us new opportunities to explore and learn more about how canals contributed to the growth of this great city and how they are being used and preserved today.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.
